2004 corolla

I know this is. Long shot but does anyone know of any way to get into the trunk of an 04 corolla if the lock cylinder spun and doesn't work? The trunk release is inop so I can only guess the linkage is broke, and the seat release is in the trunk.

Yep. The lock cylinder spun in the trunk and disengaged the linkage I guess. Can't get it open.

Try following the linkage towards the trunk, might be attached somewhere there.

If it wasn't my car I would just break something and tell the customer they had to pay for it.

Usually it's a cable all the way to the latch, which is in the trunk....
I don't know I'm taking it to work tomorrow. Maybe I'll get lucky.......

Other option is remove the rear seat back. I did that to an 8th gen Corolla, can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to do it with a 9th gen. Bottom of the seat should just pull straight up with 2 plastic clips, one on either side. And the back is 10 or 12mm bolts.

you might have to take the upper rear deck lid off to get the latches on seat(s) undone also.

You should be able to manipulate the lock within the trunk once you've pulled the seat back.

Once I got the seat backs unbolted I reached up and grabbed the cable for the seat gave it a pull and the latch popped. Once I got the trunk open and the trim off the trunk lid I found the lock cylinder loose twisted it straight and tightened it up. Dam thing works perfect. I guess the angle of the cables just didn't let the interior release work....
