Ok so input a new motor in an 06 LS. Motor was out of an 05 Saturn Vue. Put a new t-stat in and filled it full of coolant. The hose from the top of the radiator to the head gets hot, as well as the return line to the top of the res. tank. The hose from the t stat housing to the lower radiator, and the heater hoses do not get hot, and of course the car has no heat.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

Most likely an air pocket somewhere. Cause if your not getting any heat that means that your not getting any coolant flow through the heater core. You may have gotten a bad t-stat. Is it throwing a cel? Possible bad waterpump as well.

I would doubt the water pump since they are chain driven.

Check tstat and do the air bleed procedure (revving up to 2500 or so for a few mins and some other steps)

ended up being an air pocket. i had the issue last night and this morning. i tried to force it out, so i was starting to think it was a bigger issue. when i tried it the third time it stayed around 180 and i have heat.
