2007 Cobalt SS/SC Engine Knock *video*

I've had an intermittent engine knock for the past 2 years that the dealer has never been able to reproduce. It just started happening more frequently and I was able to take this video. I only notice the noise at idle, it seems that the cold weather may have an effect.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC_EjxG4tWQ

Any ideas?

timing chain tensioner my friend......GM has released a revised one to fix this issue

see my thread on this "Engine Rattle?"

EDIT: Where in Indy? I work at Hare Chevrolet and if yours is still under warranty, swing by. We normally have them in stock, but call parts first to verify and have your VIN ready.

Southside, I've been taking it to Hubler Chevrolet in Greenwood. My warrenty is good for another 400 miles. Is this something that would be replaced even if they can't reproduce the noise?

It seems to get better, but not always.

Cool, just give me a heads up so I know you're coming. I'd hate to lose another CSS.net member over my coworkers being careless. Long story.

Wait, is Lembke your last name?

lol Ok, so do you have a sister named, Sandy? She was telling me her brother had a Cobalt SS/SC (before I bought mine 6/07). Just now hit me...

Nope 2005 and 2006 SS/sc's have a 5/60K powertrain warranty . It might actually be the whole cobalt lineup but i know for a fact the SS/SC's do.

*Update*

Took it into the dealership last week for them to look at. We were able to reproduce the noise and they replaced the timing chain and tensioner under warranty. They weren't able to give me any more info than that.

Good. I'm glad they took care of you or I would have done it for you myself.

I have had this happen to me a few times but it happens here and there how the heck can I reproduce the noise at the dealer? I guess a video would be the best thing to do.
