44% oil, time for a change?

Going to be the first oil change and was wondering when I should change it (what % to go to). Also what type of oil do you use?

I believe the owners manual states that when the oil life meter reads 21% it's time to schedule an oil change.

i go every 5000 miles, 3000 is to soon to change full synthic and kinda throws money away IMO. But also depends what conditions you drive the car, i dont drive hard and 90% miles are freeway

The DIC will alert you when it's time to change the oil or at least once every 12 months, whichever comes first. There really is no need to change it more often than that unless you just want to.

The first year I had the car I had free oil changes from gm, so I got it changed every 2500 miles. Then I changed at 3000, next one 4000, next one 5000. I planned to continue doing it every 5000, but I've been really broke lately and couldn't afford the oil change.

I had it changed this week at 7025 miles, with the DIC showing 4% oil life and getting the "change oil soon" message at every start.

the book says that the DIC will show a message that says CHANGE OIL SOON, and it needs to be changed with in 600 miles of that message. I dont feel good about even going 5K miles on regular oil, but why would GM put that in the book if it was bad for the car? idk i geuss its just down to the owners choice lol

I don't drive much, so it's usually every 4-5 months that I change it. Which is between 50 and 60 percent oil life.
