probably ... ask inhale about his... won't come out of second gear and casing is cracked... mine is still questionable after my axle snapped... saw tranny fluid sprayed up under the hood (might have been from axle) but dealership said the tranny seems fine.. lets see what happens when I get it back tonight

mine is popping out of 5th. 06 ss/sc. its happened about 10 times. 2-3000 rpm, between 50-70 mph on level or downhill grade. i took it into the dealer who couldn't duplicate the problem. it comes and goes. my first thought was the synhro. don't have a clue yet.

i think its retarded that the dealer needs to try to duplicate the problem after u have already told them that it is happening...i think they should just take ur word for it and do some actual research...ie take apart the tranny and find out if anything is wrongwith it..

^ i would agree with that statement, but if every dealer took every customers word for it, and they all went around cracking open tranny's all day your cobalt would cost 35k instead of 25k to pay for all that extra labor.

i agree with the tearing down of the transmission by the dealer. it would raise costs to much. here is an idea. if we can find enough ss owners with the same problem we should be able to print this off, present it to gm and then they would have no choice but to investigate the problem.

wow such sensitivity, you dudes need to grow some more hair on your peaches. Stop getting so bent over nothing
BTW my car sometimes pops out of gear also, sometimes I press the clutch all the way in and put it into gear and it grinds like the clutch was never pressed in. I live with it and all the other bullshit and wait for the day I call the EL LEMON

Certainly, I will go to shift into third ( mainly happens in an upshift to third ) press the clutch all the way in and when it hits the gate it grinds as if I never pressed in the clutch. Now 5th gear I could just be humming along and bam it will pop out and go into neutral.

A few things could cause this. First, check for any broken transaxle or engine mounts and make sure you have full gear engagement on your shifter, especially if you installed an aftermarket unit.
If you feel it may be an internal problem, then the most likely causes would be a clutch misalignment allowing a shaft or gear to tip. Under acceleration, torque or load, usual cause would be the synchro sleeve not engaging onto the selector teeth though.
If you can dig up a shop manual, you'll be able to save yourself a lot of time and aggravation at the dealership.

i havn't seen anyone on here in a while so i hope this gets to you. i have printed off this thread and a few others about transmission problems and took them to my dealer. the guys out there are pretty helpful. i let them know what my problem was and how many other people were having the same problem so hopfully word will spread. i also e-mailed chevy about it and told them to check out this web site. hopefully when they see how wide spread the transmission problems are it will motivate them to do something about it. i'm waiting on an e-mail response now. if they don't take notice i'm going to get nasty. the nhtsa (national highway and travel safety board) takes problems like these seriously and can make producers take action. if you haven't guessed i have a background with government and enjoy a good fight. i'll keep everyone posted. c-ya
