I've got a 2006 supercharged cobalt that's engine stopped when going 75mph on the highway about an hour into my 3 hour trip. Tried to start it again and it wouldn't start up. Lights and electrical all work still. Car will not start up though. Won't even turn over.

Any tips or advice on what to start checking?? Would the engine possibly be seized and need replaced? I love this car and don't want to get rid of it if it can be fixed easily without an engine replacement.

 

Have you tried jump starting the car? I've had cars where the alt died and the battery didn't have the power to turn the car... but all the electronics appeared to work fine.

Alternatively, try to turn the engine by hand. With such minimal details, it's hard to say what happened. Might have jumped timing.
