Really? Am I eligible for it even though I am the second owner at ~52-53k miles? If it's clogged it probably isn't bad yet, I haven't lost any power that I can notice, but a free replacement wouldn't hurt

Edit: Now that I think about it, the ONLY thing on this car's carfax was two cat converter replacements at 10k and 35k or so miles... hmmm

I can check to see if the recall remains open on your vehicle, if you like. Please send me the last 8 digits of your VIN in a private message and I will let you know!

Best,
Sarah

A dealership can do this over the phone as well. Just contact their service department.

Thanks for the offer, Sarah! I've been busy and haven't checked back.

Anyway, an update..

I went to the stealership to diagnose the code. They went over the basics, loose gas cap, cheap gas, etc, and then rolled it in to check on it. An hour later the service manager came out, gave me my keys, and said my cat was on its way out but that I'd have a free warranty replacement as soon as they get the part in. She said to come back Wednesday and I'd be good to go! The car jerking and sputtering around last week wasn't actual misfires and was actually the cat dying a horrible death. Now that it's all but dead, the car is driving okay, just killing trees in the process.

I thought I was going to regret buying this car after these issues started coming up so soon, but my particular dealership handled this with great customer service. I didn't have to fight and scream at all. And next week I'll have a brand new cat to ... erm, break in
