Someone should do a How-To with pictures, seeing as how this is such a common problem.

I'm not incompetent, but I am not the most intuitive at working around problems on my own. With a fairly detailed walkthrough, I'm sure I and anyone else could do this.

And then we'd feel a whole lot better about our Cobalts.

sometimes the dealer will try to say they replaced the blower ^ this is all they are really doing most of the time.

My 06 SC did this, so far my TC has been great but I am sure it will come back as well. Talked to the dealership about it..... "No fault found"

I have had a suspension squeak since my car was new.. But somehow it always stops when I take it in.. lol. Too bad I don't live at the dealership because I'd never have the problem! I have a few random squeaks and stuff.. But **** happens.. I'm not driving a Mercedes.. And PA roads blow..

Youre right.....someone should make one.

My blower doesnt make noise, so I am not cutting my car open for no reason( I am not that altruistic)

Great tip. I did use a dry film but couldnt get in far enough. I just sprayed close enough and hoped for great results from a half assed job, nope.

What really is annoying is that the dealership won't do this for you.....

I wouldnt recommend it, youd jsut be randomly spraying lube into the fanb blades, not getting it on the motor shaft where it needs to be

I had that noise back in Oct.
I took it to the dealer (under warranty) and they fixed it.
They said the blower motor just needed to be lubed.
Quiet ever since.

Screwdriver, chisel or stiff putty knife and a small hammer.

Well I've got an 05... anyway this thing sucks, I chipped away at those rivets and still holding on. that's all for now, its too cold. If I can get the damn rivets off I'll be glad to try and make a how to. IF i get it off. For now all the banging seems to have moved things to not squeak, but when I hit a bump I know that'll change. Im thinking to get a large bit and drill them out, then tap the hole and use screws/bolts to hold it after.

Bumping this in the hopes for a how-to, as my fan noise has become louder since I started this topic. I can now hear it over my music at 1/4th volume. Now even trying to turn up the music to ignore the problem doesn't work!
