I had mine replaced a few years back at the dealer. The noise is back. I've also got a water leak when I run the AC. Isn't there a seal kit for this problem?

They all do this lol

And if you want to put a new one in you have to actually cut the old one out with a box cutter . The housing does have bolts for the new blower to fit right in. But yea
Mine used to sound like dragging sharp chains across a chalk boad behind a herd of goats. I bought mine at a junker yard, they pulled it out of a cobalt that already had his stock one replaced. Few months later its fine, very minor stick in the spoke type noise on 1 only .

I had the noise for a long time dealership said they can never hear it. Music just drowns it out for me or the windows down. It's getting cooler out now so I notice it more, but eventually I'll need to use heat and only sped 2 seems to move any air around.

Got my replacement blower motor off of 1Aauto.com. They include a video on how to replace it. I had mine done in an hour.

Have this same problem...3 days ago it was damn loud, driving me crazy...I have a 3-year "extended warrenty" on my 2009 Cobalt so I said screw it, I'm takin it into the dealership. of course yesterday when i took it in, the noise wasnt near the loud level that it was 3 days ago..go figure..of course..the service advisor said he didnt really hear it that loud and kind of looked at me like "you're brining this in for this little noise"? he didnt say that but i could tell thats what he was thinkin...i told him he's just going to have to take my word for it that it gets louder and more annoying...

I talked him into taking it in...apparently its covered by my extended warranty..never know with GM..I'm not sure if they plan on just luebing the blower motor or replacing the whole thing...i would prefer to have it replaced outright obviously...waiting on the phone call right now..will update..

**UPDATE - they did end up putting in a whole new blower motor and BOOM..noise gone...and it was covered under my 3 year "extended warrenty"...something i wasnt sure would be covered as I wanted them to replace a headlight last year under the warrenty and they told me its not covered...you never know with GM..cheap bastards.....there was also some sort of voluntary recall on the fuel pump. but only if you are smelling gas, which I hadnt, but my service advisor had a new fuel pump installed anyway..so that was real cool on his part..

Anyway, all of you who said the a/c noise inside was the blower motor were dead on!! And I mentioned that to my S/A all because I was reading up on it in this forum..thanks!!

This video from 1aauto.com makes it look like a do-able DIY project.

May tackle this repair in the spring...
