How long does it show in the GM parts dept or in the Service dept system for installing this part numbers: 19212712 12584343 This is for a clutch, pressure play, and flywheel. A GM dealership is trying to charge $1,700 for parts and labor, but I'm trying to raise the bull **** flag....on an '06 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC

take it to a different shop. They were going to charge me over $400 to replace a TCM and program it even though I was bringing in my own TCM. I walked the guy over to my car, pulled the TCM out, and said it takes you over 3 hours to do that? Got charged $95 for reprogramming fee in the end. They try and screw you over every chance they get.

Not sure what car you're rocking but that seems right for dealership pricing. $1,700 after taxes and extra charges.
When I had my tranny replaced under warranty I did the clutch at the same time (only had to pay for parts) cause my mechanic told me I'll save a **** load of labour charges down the road if I do it now. He said they quote the job for 10 hours labour so that's near $1000 right there.
Is your dealership chill with you? GM Prices are CRAZY. Mine let's me bring my own parts in. I order from Crate Engine Depot and save tons. You'll save more since I'm in Canada and pay shipping/duties etc.
Had a caliper replaced for free under warranty and the service chick is telling me I made out like a bandit since GM charges near $600 for 1 brembo...CED has'em for 259.66, after tax and by time it gets to my door $350 maybe. So still $250 under dealer pricing per caliper. Heck they want $95 for a lighter package(lighter+ashtray) **** off mates use the window and buy a $1 bic.

Can any give me the GM service print out or copy and paste the time that it will take to install these parts? I would like to see how long GM says it take to install the parts or if this dealer is over charging me.

Labor time is almost 8 hours IIRC, so the price seems fair.
I do them for people myself on the side, usually in the $400 range. It's not an easy/simple job, most dealers have never done one on a cobalt anyway. Also they overcharge badly for parts.
Get a COMPETENT shop to do it, there are far too many threads on here with horror stories about people not doing it right the first time.

I can pull the exact labor from mitchells labor guide tomorrow at work, but it's not 100% the same as GM and it's not based on customer pay rates but warranty. The dealer systems have both, an agreed upon warranty time (usually low) and a fair customer pay labor time (usually fairly accurate).
On a job like this, it may be 5.9 hours WARR 7.4 hours CP or something. That's just me guessing.

I just call a Trans shop and they told me that they can get GM parts with a "Velaro" name on it and it would be from NAPA....can anyone confirm if the parts are comparable?

^...ok. I got the upgraded Clutch kit from NAPA with the same part number from CED...the Trans Shop guy said that he was a NAPA parts dealer.
