any problems with burnt valves with 2.4 mani upgrade?

I have a friend of mine that swears and swears that since I have a SRI and 2.4 mani upgrade that the extra air entering the motor will burn my valves.

I keep telling him that its not enough of a change to cause the valves to burn but he is a moron and drives a so much modded and High HP Civic that his valves burnt from VTECH kicking in lol.

Tell your friend he is retarded. Look how many people have boosted their 2.2's (much more added airflow than a 2.4 mani upgrade) and nobody has ever complained of this.

Jeeeez, I can't believe people still think that way. This idea comes from the days when cars had carbs......

We used to burn valves on carb'ed cars because we changed the airflow efficiency (intake and/or exhaust) without rejetting the carb.

The ecu on a modern car detects the increased air flow (O2 sensor) and corrects the air fuel ratio by increasing the injector pulse width as required. Pretty much equivelent to "rejetting" itself.

Unless you pump up the air flow to the point the injectors simply can't keep up (blower / turbo with stock injectors, say), you will not lean it out and you will not burn valves.

Why is it that the only response honda owners ever have is "buy a real car"? Lol. Most hondas sound like pissed off lawn mowers and make about as much torque as a sewing machine. Granted there are exceptions but still
