anybody else buy a lemon cobalt?
So im pretty sure my cobalt is a lemon. I have a 2006 automatic cobalt SS. I love my car but its been a pain. After about 2 months my car stalled twice on me, so I took it in and my ground wires were loose. Thats fine, hasnt done it since. After 5 months my drivers seat caved in on the side. Apparently my Lumbar support bar in my seat was bent from the factory. Got that replaced, and hasnt done it again. Now after 8 months and 9300 kilometers, my transmission decided to go wonky. I couldnt get my key out of my ignition for 2 days and was scheduled to take it in. Well on Oct 24th, my mom was driving my car and she parked it in a parking spot and put the car in park. Well apparently my car decided it didnt want to be in park because without touching the break or gas peddle, my car reved, went over a parking block and hit a wall. So now my car is sitting at my dealership waiting for a engineer from GM to come look at my car. Its been there for almost a week after being at the police station for a week being investigated. The mechanic at the police station was able to re-create what happened twice, so we know that were not nuts and that there is a linkage problem with the transmission. All this and my stupid car dealership wont give me a rental cause they cant prove that its thier faulty car until some guy comes to look at it. Needless to say im a little more than annoyed. Just wanted to vent and see if any of you have had/are having any similar problems.
thanks for reading.

ive got a 2010 cobalt ss and im fixing to claim lemon. The car has been to the dealership numerous times over a popping noise in the back of the car and finally this last time I thought they fixed the problem but after two days of driving it, it is worse than it has ever been before. Idk what to do anymore i feel as if the car will never be like it was the first month i drove it. It only has 13,000 on the car and its already driving me insane.

I'm not saying anything about your mother. I'm just saying, I'd be suspicious if it was a friend of mine. Chances are, the police, and dealership are suspicious as well.

Blown Laminovas, leaking trans seal on intermediate shaft, failed window switch, internally rattling exhaust, reverse lights not working, scraping/tapping sound coming from my valvetrain, steering motor went out, corroded wheels, whoop whoop sound over bumps, pulls to the left still (even after 2 alignments-NOT UNDER LOAD AND ITS NOT TORQUE STEER), interior switch bezel popping out (passenger side), fan blower for heater stopped working (burnt up, smelled magic smoke), P0300 code (replaced fuel filter, injectors, reprogrammed PCM-still have it), a surge under load (NOT THE TYPICAL SUPERCHARGER OPERATION), emrrgency brake cable was seized and left unhooked by the dealership I bought it from (they put a new one on), rear right brake caliper locks up on occasion (do nothing about it since I can't replicate the issue), rust under the lip of the hood, bottoms of doors, and inner fenderwell (fixed), paint rubbing off at weatherstripping, emblem on grille started to flake under the jewel (replaced)...
All within 12,000 miles. Bought it used in May this year with 31000 miles on it. Have 42000 and some change now.
Want proof? I've got it.

mines been great. other then recalls and a few noisy window regulators its been great. mechanically i couldn't have asked for a better car. and i drive it aggressively and drive it year round. got down to -40*c and it still started up the first try. clutch is still going strong with 91,000km's on it. a minor suspension issue but is due to age and not a defect.

I do believe the OP said that the police investigator was able to recreate the issue twice during investigation...so I think that kinda takes the suspicion out of the equation.
And I do believe under Lemon Law, the mileage does not affect it within reason. My mom had a Dodge Caravan back in 1996 that we Lemon Lawed with 51,000 miles on it. The factor that comes in to play is this: You have to have documentation of I believe it is 3 times trying to fix 1 issue with the vehicle, within a certain time period, i.e. days, weeks, months whatever it may be. So unfortunately I don't think your car will qualify right now because this is only the first time you have had an issue with the transmission. Hope this sheds a little light on it for you.

I owned a 2006 LT which I loved for over 50,000 miles and never had any warrenty work done. I loved it so much i bought a 2009 ss/tc. The only real issues ive had with that moonroof popped off track and chevy fixed it no questions asked. The other issue I am in the middle of is the Brakes and Rotors and i have had my tc for 12,000 miles. Toss me a few more issues. I will still love my cobalt.
