Anyone with Access to junkyards with wrecked 05-07 Cobalt SS/SC's ??
THE BOLT HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!
I want to say thank you so much to everyone who came out to lend a hand. It's really nice to have a community of people that are willing to step up and help a fellow vehicle owner in a time of need.
And of course, you also have those that don't want to help, just verbally regurgitate all over the internet for no benefit to anyone. Thanks for wasting everyones time having to read your poorly typed and uninformed comment, turboecotec02. I don't believe I need to say more, because you were put in your place quite quickly by those trying to help me.
And also a big thanks to Spaz Dude, I don't know how many times you have saved my ass. Thanks for checkin out the thread and digging up that bolt for me. I really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Mark.

Hey Everyone, I am putting out a plea for help to anyone that might have access to the above mentioned. I need to get ahold of a "steampipe bolt", otherwise known as the "banjo bolt".
If you look under the hood on an SS/SC, and follow the hose from the main coolant tank where it runs past the fuel rail, it changes from a hose to a steampipe, which then connects via a 14mm bolt. This is the one that i need.
It turns out that this simple bolt is pretty rare. It is $7 dollars from GM, and a direct order from the manufacturer that takes 2-3 weeks.
If Anyone can help out, I would appreciate it greatly. I don't care too much where it is coming from, I will pay overnight shipping so that I can drive my car.
Again, anyone out there willing to help out a fellow Cobalt owner, please, please do.
Thanks to anyone.

There are thousands of different kinds of bolts. What those stores sell doesn't even scratch the surface. I've seen car repairs that require special-order bolts that cost upwards of $20 for each bolt. You bet your ass I'd ask on a forum if anyone happened to have one before I put in a special order for one.

Please, unless you guys want to help don't post.
It is not just a bolt. It is a proprietary hollow bolt with relief holes near the head, where it meets the steampipe. When coolant gets too hot in the block, it evaps up through the bolt into the steampipe and then into the reservoir to relieve pressure.
I had thought about that, but I'm still a bit nervous using something different than what is meant to go in there.
Thanks bro.

Pickles, don't know if they will have it but try Ability Hose:
1 Riverview Bay SE
Calgary, AB T2C
(403) 720-3770
Pretty much the corner of Barlow and 61st in the SE.
They have made up custom power steering hoses (that use banjo fittings) for me in the past, great people to deal with. They may have something that will work for you.
They can do custom machining too but guessing you don't want to pay $100+ for it

We tried Pick n' pull, but no cars there newer than '01 or '02. I don't really know of any other wreckers in town, or if anyone would carry a car this new. The bolt is somewhat specific to the LSJ engine I believe.
We were reinstalling a fuel rail, and the torque wrench malfunctioned, and the head of the bolt snapped off. Its a hollow bolt, so much less resistant to torque.
It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't 2-3 weeks to get the bolt from the manufacturer.

Provided you don't find one before tomorrow, I'll try calling the 50 million junkyards around where I live. We seriously have about 15 in a 20 mile radius from where I live. I'm sure one of them has an SS/SC sittin there somewhere. It's too late to try and call now tho.

Thanks Curt. I only asked cuz I was reading in another thread that you had a busted block, wasn't sure who else to petition. It never occured to me that someone so close would have it.
