anyone else have had this problem?

Okay so everytime i start my car in the morning it idles high to like 1500 rpm then slowly drops back down and i mean real slow to 1k rpm. then its fine after i start driving it around. anyone know what could be the cause to high idle when i start it up or is it suppose to do that? and it never did this last month. oh btw its a 06 ss/sc 2.0.

increased boost is a good sign of a clogged cat, hesitation, chugging at a steady throttle and of course p0420

possibly, p0420 by itself could just mean a faulty O2 sensor. but givin you think your boosting higher then normal i would say its safe to say your cat is starting to clog

Your cat likely isn't clogged as you'd be having a HUGE loss of power.

The high idle up to 1,500 rpm is normal on a stone cold start. The car does this to light off the cat more quickly and reduce emissions. 15 psi of boost is just fine for stock as the computer will add or subtract boost based on outside temperatures and barometric pressure.

I was hitting 12 psi in the winter and 15 psi in the summer before I got the stage 1 setup.

For an SS/SC 15 PSI stock shouldn't happen . It sure sounds like a cat thats starting to clog. It was such a problem on the SC cars that GM extended the warranty on them to 10 years or 120,000 miles.

Here is the TSB OP.

Condition
Some customers of 2004-07 model year Saturn ION Red Line; and 2005-07 model year Chevrolet Cobalt SS vehicles, equipped with 2.0L 4-cylinder (RPO LSJ) engine, may comment on illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp (MAL) and/or lack of engine power. Customers should not be charged for performing a system check when it is determined that the catalytic converter is not the cause of the customer complaint. Labor code T5725 is provided to submit claims for such system checks. Any additional necessary diagnosis and repairs that are not related to the catalytic converter are NOT covered by this special coverage. The customer should be informed that any further service that is not covered by the new vehicle warranty will not be covered by this policy.

For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after January 14, 2010, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Its supposed to. PCM is trying to warm up the engine to enter closed loop o2.
The colder it is the longer it will take to idle down. Did you just buy this car or what?

That's a neg. Colder air is more dense and thus creates more power. So it takes less boost to create 260 hp/260 tq.

And to everyone else... just noticed it was an SS/SC.

The thing about idling high on a cold start still stands though.
