anyone who has replaced fuel tank...

Well i threw an Evap code... and i'm def not leaking gas from underneath at all, but i am almost positve its a small hole in the top of my gas tank, i took out my rear seat and my dumb ass had something screwed in right there, not realizing the fuel tank is right underneath, so i know the screw definetly hit the fuel tank...the screw was pretty much directly in the middle of the car, where the rear seats are. so my question is, just to double check, is that area just the fuel tank, not the regulator or anything right. cuz im just going to replace the tank this weeek... drives fine and everything so i think my pressure is okay, so almost positve just a leak in the tank.... thanks for any help

Well if you punctured the canister it would smell like gas as well. I believe the canister is mounted in front of the gas tank right where the seat bucket area is so it could possibly be that he screwed into the canister itself.

Ya that's the evap canister that probably got punctured. You can drop the whole thing with I believe a 10mm or 12 mm socket. Probably a good place to start at least

You should be able to replace it separately I wouldn't think they would require you to replace both. Would just seem asinine. Unfortunately it's either a GM only part or a Salvage yard.

no im going to drop the tank on sunday, and see Exactly where the hole is, and Hopefully be able to patch it since it should only be a tiny hole the size of a screw.

The EVAP Canister is actually located above and behind the axle. The fuel tank goes underneath the rear floor pan where the rear seat cushion sits.
