Auto-shifter lights on and off

(06 ls)
I searched. Only found a howto about a blown bulb - which I dont have - read on

I got a head unit and speakers installed a month ago. Its a video head unit but the guy wired the parking-safety wire to a switch in my driver dash, so he never would have touched the shifter right?

Because now (a month after head unit install) all of the sudden I notice I get in my car at night after not using it for at least 30 minutes that sometimes the shift lights (PRNDIL) will be out. Dangerous. The odd part is that if I knock on it HARD 3 or 4 times theyll go right back on for the remainder of the drive (and I usually dont see it again until the next day or until starting car hours later).

My 4 questions.

-Could head unit guy have caused this? I dont want to go back to him, he was sketchy and I would rather not have him be in my car again.
-What could cause this?
-Would it be cheap to fix?
-Would chevy fix this (Im under warranty) despite the fact that I got a head unit in?

Thanks A LOT I really just want this problem to be over with. (the guy also put my passenger window crank in at the wrong rotation) I regret ever getting anything installed.

Greaaaattt... Hopefully they will respect the warranty despite the head unit. Its dangerous for those lights to be out... especially in new jersey.

Anybody else know anything?

did i hear new jersey?

in for reason why it would be dangerous to not be able to see what gear you're in in an automatic. (i have one too, this is just constructive bashing) in our cars it goes PRND21

also where in jersey is OP from?

How in the world is this dangerous?????

Pull some panels and make sure all the connectors are securely in place.

Ok, so it's dark, Im blasting my extremely epic aftermarket speakers. I reverse out of a driveway on a crowded main road where everyone is rocking 50mph because they're aholes. I rip it in drive and then I say to myself "did I just move it one or two clicks?"

Or, there's a meteor coming and... nevermind.

I guess its more annoying. I would rather someone else fix it then me but I dont want to be charged an arm and a leg

Ok I wasnt thinking - it was all theoretical, but thats a poo solution to interior lights that go on and off. That'd be like if your tachometer broke and I told you to listen to the engine. I just want it fixed. Thought the problem might be common - guess not.

Ill go to the dealer this weekend and see if theyll fix it i guess.

passaic/morris county btw. Its a beautiful place :/

sounds like a loose connection, just pop off the panel and the check the harness going to the lights

I was thinking i might do it myself but the situation got worse.

My check Engine Light went on last night. Could those two problems plus the head unit install be related? Itd be just my luck if the one thing wrong with my car isnt under warranty.

This is tough, I work too much get to the dealer any day soon. And im obsessive yeaaaa
