Battery
I have a 2.4 SS. I was sitting in my car with it on run.. The engine was not running. I problably had it on like that for 30 mins. Then my radio shut off, and my gauges started to bounce up & down. Then I tried to start it up, and it wouldn't. It would just click.
I finally got it started to charge up the battery, and then I took it to the Chevy dealer, and I think they checked the voltage, or something, and they said it was fine. But I have lights hooked up to the battery with speaker wire. And that chevy guy said that would drain the battery, even though, my battery had a perfect reading.
That was yesterday, then today, I started it up, my radio worked, it started and my gauges had a delay of moving from when the car is off, to 1000 rpms, and 0 mph.
Does anybody know what is going on?

sounds like something isn't getting enough voltage.
first off, don't hook anything directly to the battery with speaker wire... that can never turn out well... if you must get power from the batt, use a real cable and relay. you'll get less grief from the shops.
second, its possible that the battery itself is fine but there is a bad connection to it. most commonly, the battery is grounded right to the floor. on my VW, it came loose and I couldn't figure it out. battery tested fine... but the car was acting up.
you might also try a slow cycle charger... let it charge overnight. see if it acts up.

Theres a TSB out on this, your battery isnt making a good connection with the hook-ups on the car, bring it in, and tell them there's a TSB out on the battery connections

"relay" = a remote switch, typically 12 volt, that is pulled on and off by an electro magnet...pretty much keeps the connection from draining when turned off.

I had this problem with my old cobalt, a base 2.2, the reason my did that was because I put an aftermarket radio in myself, and the wiring didnt match, so it fucked the whole ECU until I took out the radio. I was still able to start the car, but no gauges or display would work right, i took in to a radio specialist, and they had to do some custom wiring, and I never had that problem again.
