well i figured it out, the connector from the wiring harness to the motor was all melted like it had gotten hot. I think if i just get a new connector it will fix the problem.

well only connector i could find was through the stealership and they wanted $50 for a little connector...so i just cleaned up some of the melted plastic. Put some conductive silicon in there and hooked it up and its working now as a temporary fix. I just dont wanna pay $50 dor a connector...

I have an extended warranty that I just used to have the a/c blower motor replaced in my 2006 Cobalt SS. The blower motor and the control unit on the center console had both burned completely out due to some electrical short. The new blower sounds way out of balance, and started making an extremely loud noise, like something is contacting the blades as it spins. Particularly severe at highest setting of 4. Also noticed that after the dealership had worked on my car, the airflow out of the left center vent is blocked when in heat mode, but flows freely in cold mode. Is it there some type of actuator cable for the airflow baffles that direct air through the vents that might be flexing into the blower fan? Why does a brand new blower sound so much worse then the old one (when the old one worked)? When I put my hand on the base of the blower, it feels like the bearings are grinding.

Just order the replacement blower. If I remember right it was like $120 or something for the kit. You will have to do some cutting of plastic to install the replacement blower motor. I think it took all of an hour to replace.

You happen to know a GM part number or a source to get said kit? My GF's 08' LS is making an annoying sound from the blower motor, so it would be nice to replace it.

Good luck to the OP!

$107.13 from GM Parts Direct. If I remember correctly the part# was 25776197.
