Boost Problem
Hey
I drive a 2008 SS/TC, 100% stock except an HP tune, 157,000kms.
As of yesterday, my car will sputter as it goes into the boost range and I lose power. If I really pin it, it sputters hard and BANG a big flume of black smoke will come out the exhaust pipe.
The CEL is not on nor does it ever come on as it's sputtering.
Boost leak? I haven't done a boost leak test myself, just a visual inspection of my charge pipes and nothing seems out of the ordinary.
Or could it be electrical?
I hosed out my engine bay yesterday then it started having this problem.
Thanks

Black smoke usually too much fuel. It would make sense you could have a boost leak and it could be dumping too much fuel although I'm not sure exactly how the LNF dictates fueling.
If this problem started after you hosed out your engine bay I would think it is more likely it is some electrical issue. I'm surprised you aren't throwing at least a misfire code. Are you sure there are no codes? Any way you got water on the filter or in the intake? I would consider possibilities of ANYTHING you may have affected when you washed your engine bay.

Also , there is no way u will find a boost leak by visually looking unless ur clamp is off or pipe blew off. Boost leaks usually show themselves at certain boost levels unless it's really bad.
