Brake light problems, staying on, switch replacement *** Solved & Updated***
I've read through everyone's threads about the brake lights staying on and all anyone says is they have a problem and they've taken it to the dealership. Does anyone know how to fix it at home?
The brake lights where staying on all the time, so I unplugged the brake pedal switch and they shut off. However when I removed the brake pedal switch, plugged it back in and tried to play with it just dangling there it didn't make the lights work. So I ordered a new switch and popped it in today.
I turned the key on and the brake lights are still on, so I was mad and decided to stomp on the brake pedal and wiggle it. The brake lights went out then about 1-2 seconds later they came back on. So it looks to me that when I step on the brakes the lights turn off and when I release they come back on. Any ideas? I think the switch can only be installed one way but correct me if I'm wrong.

Brake light issue solved!
After reading around I decided to try some stuff before taking it to the stealership. I pulled both of the plugs from the BCM, cleaned them off and applied a liberal coat of dielectric grease. I then plugged them back in, turned the key, hit the brakes and voilà, problem solved!
