Brass + Aluminum = Fail

Some one please explain to me why when we have aluminum engines, that brass fittings are very common? My Dual Pass Aluminum End plate came with a brass fitting. ZZP Sells a #4 AN Brass Fitting that threads into the oil ports on the Aluminum block. Ok so when your dealing with Oil, maybe its not so bad... But when your dealing with Coolant.....

BTW: Does anyone know where I can get an Aluminum 1/2 NPT to 3/4" Hose barb adapter? I thought I found one on Summit, but its too big.

generally you dont have an issue if you flush your coolant and do you regularly swap your brass fittings?

Skip never-seize. Use liquid teflon. Problem solved.

It's not the brass I'm worried about. Brass is more "noble" or anodic then aluminum,
It's the Aluminum part that i'm more concerned about. But still for cost?
An aluminum endplate im sure runs more money then an aluminum fitting.

When two metals are placed together with electrolyte, such as water/coolant, with a conductor more water/coolant, the more cathodic metal will corrode. This would cause corrosion on the endplate. Now
if they made it out of Zinc or galvonized steel, then it would corrode before the endplate would, wich would be fine, cause then you can change it more easily and cost efficently.
