CA stainless steal headers DONT FIT.
I just recently bought CA stainless steal headers and they DIDNT FIT. Looking towards the back of the engine the pipe in the far right hits something below it. It wouldnt go low enough to bolt up to the engine. is there something that i am doing wrong or what? i tried several times but it wouldnt go on. i compared the stock manifold to the header and on the stock one the pipe on the far right (the one that is hitting with the CA header) avoids a spot where it wouldnt hit anything. I contacted Cobalt-addiction by email and i am waiting for a response. I will keep yall updated.

is it the pacesetter one? or is it a real cobalt addiction one?
if its the pacesetter it needs to be fabricated and welded on should cost more than 50 bucks to get done... the ca one i have no clue about it should fit.

Maybe there's a problem with the 2.2's. The stock exhaust manifold for the 2.4 is the same as the 2.0. The 2.2 is obviously different.

I put the GMPP extrude honed manifold on my 2.2 -- it is an LSJ manifold that has been honed out. It fit like it was meant to. Also the gasket is the same for all three: 2.2, 2.4, 2.0. You said that the header doesn't match the original manifold then there is something wrong with the header...any chance you could provide a picture of the two side by side? If this is indeed the case then CA will most likely take care of the problem.

wdsoccer Do you have the Air Injection system? If you do then you'll have an additional hose/tube attached to the top of your air filter box -- 06blackg85ss would be correct.

I havent got the header on yet. I am to busy during the week to get it on. Cobalt-addiction emailed me back and said that it is the coolant pipe. he said that i can try and move it out of the way and then the header will fit. i am going to try and do it this weekend. i will let you guys know asap if it goes on.

if it's the pipe i'm thinkin of you aren't going to be able to move ****! it's about as big around as the pipes on the header and goes from one side of the engine to the other. see how far you have to go until it fits and you may have to take a hammer and dent the pipe alittle to make it fit.

I never mentioned this before because they here handling the problem themselves, but since someone else mentioned it to everyone, I thought I'd chime in to calm this down a little before it gets crazy. Here's the deal. I think I was the first 2.2 owner to get this header. I tried the install, and the two lower pipes of the header ride on the coolant pipe underneath. It mates to the head just fine, but when you tighten the head nuts, it pushes down on the coolant pipe. I did not like this so I sent it back, they checked fitment on another one and sent it to me, this time only one pipe was riding on the pipe, but still a problem none the less. They were very calm and worked with me well, as Im sure with any other problem. As far as I know now, they're in talks with the manufacturer to adjust the header a little to accomidate the 2.2's. Here are some pix...

DO NOT HIT THE COOLANT PIPE TO "MAKE IT FIT"! You run the risk of damaging the o-rings where the pipe connects and starting a leak.

WDSOCCER- Ya my first header, 2 pipes were hitting, the second header (the one in the pics) only the drivers side pipe is hitting. There is about 1/4 in clearance on the right pipe, hard to see though. Try not to worry, Kenny wont leave you hanging...

I know he wont leave me hanging. he has responded to emails in a short period of time. he just simply asked me for some pics so he can see what is going on with it. Im just a little paranoid because this was my first mod that i was going to install but it didnt work out so i got a little worried. not anymore though, i know he is willing to work this out.

dude i wasn't saying to hit the coolant pipe!!! i was saying to put the header on the car and take a sharpie marker and make a mark on the header where it's touching. remove the header from the car and take a hammer and dent the header in the spot that you marked. the dent shouldn't have to be that large just enough to give you some clearance.
