Car died at full throttle 1st gear
I know others here have had this happen, but the search engine here just doesn't lead me to the posts.
Car is stock with stage 2. Has run like a watch since new.
Today, I'm on the metered on-ramp.....dry pavement finally.....light freeway traffic.
So I get it rolling and stomp it.
Goes to about 5000 and flat shuts off. Bout threw me into the steering wheel.
Pull over, and try to restart. All it does is sputs and spits. Time and time again. So I let it sit for maybe 5 minutes, and it starts up and runs fine......check engine light is on.
A little nervous on the 13 mile drive in rush hour traffic, but runs like a champ. Needles to say, I didn't floor it in low gear again.
2 things I've noticed recently.
Occasionally, it won't start by flicking the key....I have to crank it.
Pulled out onto the street the other day and had to get on it hard cold cause I pulled in fron of some ******* going 50 in a 35, and it bucked like a bronco. Wrote that off to being cold.
So I'll take it to the dealer and find out what the CEL code is. I don't have an OBD2 reader......
But I'm wondering what others have found out about this issue. My guess is the dealer will reset the CEL and send me on my way.......
Comments welcome.
Ron
Addendum:
You youngsters get out the dictionary.
So after the drive home, I checked all the electrical connections under the hood. Nothing obvious.
So later this evening, I ran up to the store....no Check Engine Light.
Very odd.
Either an intermitant in the wiring, or some sort of software glitch.
I wonder if the computer stored the code?

Had this same thing happen to me... it threw 2 codes, but i dont remember what they were... after about 10 to 15 miles the car went back to normal and has been fine since... its been about 2 months i think, since it happend..... Id get it checked because some of the other guys on here who had the same thing happen, had some major problems I think.... dont mean to scare ya.... read this thread and see if it helps https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/problems-service-maintenance-69/help-code-p0068-p1183-34531/

Do a forum search on "crankshaft position sensor", and you'll find some similar stories.
As for the car not starting with a quick turn of the key, I've only had that happen when I'm seriously low on gas. (like 15-20 miles beyond the low fuel warning)

Thanks guys.
I will take it to the dealer and find out what the codes are. (Taking a car to the dealer is against my religion)
But I don't have an OBD tool, yet.
Besides, they owe me a fix under warranty. Although I doubt they will figure it out.
My guess is that it's related to the stage 2 kit.
As for fuel, filled it 2 days ago. Just been able to play a bit now that the roads are dry.
BTW....it's didn't go into limp mode......that would assume that it started and ran like crap. It would not start, and when it did, it ran fine.
I'll also pull and replug all the connectors. But I'll be pissed if the connections are bad....that is just not cool in todays world.

Same thing happened to my when i had 900 miles on the car. The SAME thing. It ended up being a trip in the crank position sensor and the car shut down because it thought something bad was going to happen (like punching the block or something). The next day the light was off and the dealer said that the cps tripped. they didnt fix or replace anything but its been 13,000 miles since and it hasn't happened since.

P0335....crankshaft position sensor
No doubt either a bad connection, failing sensor or just a glitch in the system.
I didn't clear the code, I'll let the dealer decide what they want to do .
Probably nothing is my geuss......
