Car Won't Start Pt.2

This is the update to:

"YES!! My car Won't Start!!!"

So my dealership calls me after 6 days in the shop... they say ther replaced my Starter and Starter Relay. I go to get my car tonight and as they go and get it for me a get this bad feeling...

After about 5 minutes, I goto the Service Manager "Wheres my car?" He says he don't know and we go to look for the kid who went to get it. As we walk out he walks in and whispers to the service manager... "Does he have a ride home?" I go W-T-F... Tell me its not starting... he just looks at me...

I go is it clicking... he goes yea... I said thats why it was towed here on wensday morning... for not starting... that why you replaced the starter and starter relay for not starting...

I have a GM Customer Rep calling me back tomorrow about the service history of my car, he said he was going to try to get me a free extended warrenty... well guess what... thats not good enough anymore...

I HAVE NO FAITH IN GM FIXING THIS CAR TO THE POINT WHERE IT WILL NOT NEED ANYMORE SERVICE; AKA TO THE POINT WHERE IT WILL RUN / WORK LIKE IT SHOULD.

And I will ******* tell him that... I want them to buy back my car... its been in for service over 10 times...

F THIS ****.

Yea the lemon law,It just may have been built badly. Tell them you want a new one. I have heard that cars built on a monday or friday sometimes suck. those assembly guys are hungover or thinking about their next date

Lemon law only works if its the same problem three times, not for mutliple problems I believe.

Dude they were more than willing to buy mine back over a power door lock. Make them buy that crud back. The only thing you will have to suffice with is you will get the identical car back, no additional options. Identical car

Good Luck man. I definately hear you on this. Believe Me! My car has been in the shop two weeks now, and as far as I know there is still no engine in sight for it. It sucks to have to pay on a car that doesn't even run with only 7700 miles on the ODO!

I think I am going to have to love that lovely boxer rumble from a new WRX soon.

I love my car as well, and in fact I would lose out on some serious money/options if I have to get rid of it. The G85 pkg is awsome by the way! Hopefully once the new motor is in, all will be well. I hope you end up happy in the end, like I hope to be. Good luck man... and keep the faith that the almighty car gods will prevail!

If all goes well, the only problem I'll have then is getting the towing company to pay for the lower lip to be refinished as they scraped the hell out of it! Jerks!

I was lucky enough when I had to get towed, I requested a flat bed... and when the guy came, he hooked up my car and started pulling it up... when he saw it was going to bottom out he backed it down and took some ramps out of his truck...

I cannot wait till tomorrow to get this whole mess sorted out.

There is no legal action you can really take. They were simply trying to fix your car. You were not charged for service.

You should have them buy it back though. There is absolutely no excuse for selling a car that will not start.

The only thing I could think to bring up is compensation for not having your car. This typically won't involve any legal action.

I understand you're upset, but acting hostile will only make it more difficult for both parties.

My car would not start while I was living at college and it was in twice(had to be towed both times). They had no idea how to fix it, so I understand your frustration.

I used to own an Optra before my Cobalt, and the only reason I own the Cobalt now is because the Optra was the largest hunk of scrap metal I ever invested time and money into.

It broke down 4 times in a row with the same idling problem within 2-4 days of it being fixed.

I called Lemon on GM and made them buy the car back. Now I'm happier than ever with my Cobalt

Update: Contacted by GM Rep...

I politely told him:

"Well yesterday they called me to come get my car. I took off of work early to leave and get it. I get there to have them tell me that it still DOES NOT START even after they replaced a bunch of part."

I then Said:

"I don't feel like this car will ever be back on its feet again they way it was supposed to. Ive had ABS Controller Problems, Brake and Rotor Problems, Starter / Ignition Problems, Electrical Problems, annoying problems like switches and panels..."

"I just feel that even after the starter is replaced, something else will break next month, I am just tired and frusturated of all of this."

He says:

"Well as per our last conversation, I can offer you a free 9-point GM extended warrenty for 48m / 60,000 miles"

I say:

"I don't think thats going to be good enough, I want GM to buy back this car and I would like a new 06 model to hopefully shed all of this problems that I am experiencing..."

He says:

"Ok, I am going to need more time to do research and call people, lets setup an appt over the phone for next thursday."

I says:

"Thats fine, I understand these maters take time. I again calmly plead my case and said thank you"

He Says:

"Sorry for all of your problems etc etc etc and he will do his best to get this issues resolved and make me happy..."

I Say:

"Thanks again" and then hang up shortly after some more small-talk/formalities...

i know from working at the dealership if you have had 3 repair attempts for the same problem then lemon law kicks in but only after its been proven that they have attempted to fix the car and cant...they may even make you take it to another dealership....buying back a car is rare...very rare....u will probably have to wait for a GM rep to come out and look at the car too...they will tell the dealership what to do to fix the problem...if after that the problem persists, you have a much better chance of getting it bought back.

good luck.

I know a couple of people mention GM giving them an extended warrenty + cash back.

My cousin, with a ford, had a bunch of problems with a ford focus. They gave him an extended warrenty + $5000...

If they did that for me I would try my car in... and get a new 06 SS S/C...

Whats the 05 Cobalt SS/SC Worth KBB does not list the SS, but NADA does and lists a trade in for like $18,000....

i paid 18 in NY and a local dealer wanted to give me 20,000 cause they couldn't get them. So maybe it's worth the cashback and tradein on an 06.
