17,000 miles....... yes thats right 17,000 miles......and had the charging system light (the battery light) come on today briefly was driving while it happened while sitting at a red light. I lightly revved the engine to maybe 1200 rpms a few times light went out. Also happened at a morning start up when the car was new and went out shortly after. Doesn't seem to effect anything noticable while the light is on.

Anyone have a similiar situation?

Only mod= Valentine 1 radar detector which gets used in two other cars with out ill effects

test battery voltage. probably your alt but might be the battery

Update,

At start up this morning it did it again. Drove to the gas station about 1 mile, filled the tank and checked under the hood wiggled the plug on the alternator.

Started the car up, light was on for a few seconds then went out. Drove for about 200 miles light has not come back on since.

Will investigate it later when I have a chance.

main good luck you posted that ****... a friend of mine has an RX-8 and it wouldn't start in front of the shop. battery tested fine so i figure ill wiggle the connections on the alt like you did....started up just fine

how in the hell do you have 17,000 miles on a car thats only been out 6 months!?!

Because I commute 200 miles a day and I work 4-7 days a week that's how.


Have not had the problem come back but I haven't had time to mess with anything either

ya sounds like an alt issue. maybe the wires came loose and it wasnt charging for a few days. that much highway commute time should have your batt always charged no matter what you do
