Clicking, chain noise, and exhaust rattles?!?
Hello all. I have searched the forums and cannot find any reference to this issue (which of course makes me feel good that it may not be a systemic LSJ issue. The issues are as follows:
1. Replaced the timing chain/guides twice. Bolt through the block in the forward guide sheared off and the guide itself was shattered. Replaced the guide and removed the shattered old guide parts. (was alerted to this issue due to loud chain slapping/rubbing sound from near front cover). Engine is still making slight chain noise/rattle especially at low RPMs.
2. Severe rattle from exhaust system area, mid vehicle. In 2007 when the car was only 6-7 months old, my catalytic converter decided it was a great day for all the baffles to just kind of disintegrate. I am now, years later (after a successful repair by the goodwrench boys and girls, of course) hearing a sizable rattle coming from the area of the heat shield/cat.
Anyone else experiencing this or have knowledge of a known issue?
Any guidance on these issues would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

We did replace the tensioner. The rattle is coming from directly underneath the car. Not one side or the other. I was doing an oil change and it sounds like its coming from the catalytic converter. I checked for anything loose near like the heat shield or anything...nothing.

this is the performance section not m car is broke section that is located here Problems/Service/Maintenance - Cobalt SS Network
take it an exhaust shop to have a diag done if you had them replace the cat it could be that or a flex pipe or heat shield
