Letting the engine warm up doesn't do anything for the trans. Does it get better as you drive it?

How fast are you going when you try to go into first? There is a first gear lockout that is suposed to keep you out of first gear above a certin speed. Mine seems to be at 10 - 15 mph

I did some poking around in your previous threads and see that this is an '05. Unfortunately, the powertrain warranty wasn't on the vehicles at that point, and would have expired on time anyways by now.

I realize that visiting a dealership to have this looked into might not be an option for you; if you do make a trip in, please let me know as I would like to at least be available to follow up on how everything goes.
Regards,
Sarah

Linkage might need to be adjusted. If it's popping out of gear, I would start with that.

Might need to replace the trans fluid as well.

I would say clutch or shift linkage problem. More so the shift linkage since if it was the clutch itd do it everytime.

Manual trans have a drain and fill under the car on the gear case. If its an Lsj it is an Allan key. Pain to get to but I believe there is a how to with picks. Open the drain and put plug in. Open fill and fill till fluid comes rolling out. Plug it. Dobe

you must be thinking of the oil drain. On the manual transmissions, behind the front driver side wheel is the transmission. If you remove the wheel you will see the fill and drain plugs. You undo the drain and let the tranny oil come out and then flush it. Then u put the drain plug back in and u open the fill plug and fill it up.
The fill plug is about 4 inchs higher than the drain plug. You can do this from inside the wheel well of the car so you will not have oil pour on your face.
