its because they are lazy and have lost the joy of working on vehicles because its usually the same **** day in day out. and when something interesting that actually requires some brains comes in they don't want to do it.
this is also the reason why i stopped pursuing an apprenticeship because after 6 years of doing the same thing i started hating it. now i'm back to wanting to work on my vehicle and friends vehicles as i enjoy it very much
the aftermarket techs still have the passion for it and have a passion for needing to figure out why something isn't working. which is usually why they get things done and it works right

Ive met my share of " If there isn't a code set theres nothing wrong with it " Techs . I'd say it close to 50% of them now a days . Problem is that the younger ones have really become dependent on the scanner.

When I had my G5, my rental was a base 4 door Cobalt LS. A couple weeks ago, I took the SS/TC in and I got an HHR LT. I got a lot of looks from people when driving it. Not sure if it was a positive or negative thing though

Nothin wrong with an HHR. (Mine happens to be the Panel version.)
A little lowering, suspension mods, wheels and tires, a few interior and exterior add-ons, and your riding in Style.
Oh and adding a Blower/Supercharger when it's not an "SS" version that are Turbocharged, makes it an ultimate "Sleeper". That will surprize many.
The HHR can be real Fun to drive.

I've never liked the regular HHR's although there are some nice modified ones out there.
