Are Cobalts garbage?
I know it seems like a very arrogant question. But i have heard so many bad things regarding their quality/reliability i truly cant make up my mind as to determine if i should get one. I test drove a 06 SS/SC and i loved it, i noticed first gear was a bit glichy but no big deal. However i hear they have so many issues in terms of engine and transmission/reliability i have to ask real cobalt owners what there opinions are. I wanted to buy the car on impulse but i dont want to put more into it just to fix problems that should not have occured to begin with. Whats this about cobalts having a really wide turn? i did not notice that. By the way im not interested in the newer turbo ones. So please don't suggest them,
any advice is appreciated!
thanks

I've had 2 ss/tc and both have been stock when I bought them. Going from completely stock to fully bolted and tuned in two cobalts I have yet to have one major issue. Never even been in the shop. Routine maintenance goes a long way. They have their squeaks and rattles but nothing that drives me crazy. My friend also has a 2009 SS that he beats the **** out off and it has never failed him.

I haven't had too many problems, just minor stuff. Had to replace a faulty seat belt sensor and reseal my high pressure fuel pump. Oh and my timing chain tensioner broke on my lsj. My wife had a cobalt before I did and it was mechanically sound

Biggest POS out. My car just keeps breaking. Lol jk. I didn't put much thought in when I bought my '09 SS/TC. Just take a look at some of it's competiton out there. It's a good car and I enjoy the hell out of it. I don't beat on the car all day, errday. All these cars are not made to the same exact specs, and some people have had issues with their cars that others haven't experienced. You can't beat the bang for the buck ideal of this car. Just take note and learn to be mechanically inclined. It'll save you on the parts and labor of many auto garages when you do need to swap a part out

I was full bolt ons 07 lsj 83k still runs like a champ never had a problem. I also like to open her up every once in a while but I always kept oil changed up to date, air filter, engine coolant. I am also still on the stock clutch with no slip

I've got 68k on mine and the only big problems I had were the key stuck in the ignition which got fixed with a recall and the rear rotors got torn up which got fixed under warranty.
Most econo cars are considered unreliable because they are poorly maintained by people who think maintenance costs too much because its a cheap car.
