My LS has been mechanically sound for the most part, aside from the rattles, squeaks and general wear. Only major mechanical issues was at 23K when the 3rd and 4th synchros went out, got a brand new transmission for that, the recall, and about 15K later she ate a PCM. All under warranty. Been running fine since. As others said, General maintenance goes a long way. Take care of it and you shall receive the same in return.

They're **** if you want a good reliable car. They're good if you don't mind fixing stuff all the time while having a very fast economy car.
