CompuStar alarm starter question
Hey Guys,
So i am considering installing an alarm starter combo for the fast approaching winter. I have a pretty good deal on the unit and a friend that will install it for practically nothing.
My brother (oldsskool) has an 06 ss/sc as well and warned me that he thougth he had heard something about problems with starters on this car.
Has anyone else heard this and if so what is the problem. As well i have heard that the E brake on this car is not the greatest and that it should not be relied on when parking the car.
I need to know this as being a 5 speed i need to leave the car in neutral when parking it with the intention of using the remote starter.
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

1. There is a reason they don't put remote starters on manual transmissions.
2. You should never rely 100% on an e-brake on any car.
3. Yes, you would have to leave the car in neutral. The first time you start it without putting it in neutral and it takes out the neighbors car or house you won't have to worry about forgetting again.
I have never had an e-brake problems on any cars, but they can fail. Also, as you wear the rear brakes, the e-brake will hold less and less. I have known a few people that have had MT and auto-starters. I can also tell you a story about each one of them starting it with the car in gear. They were all lucky and the e-brake stopped the car from lunging more then a few feet, except one who smashed into the car infront of him in the mall parking lot.

^^^ HAHA funny you should mention that... his last car did! HAHA
He is more specifically wondering if they Cobalt is okay with the starter. I know with mine if my car is on a slight incline, if I dont leave it in gear I will come back and it will be chillin out in the middle of hte street waiting for me. Had the ebrake adjusted twice now too!

The way that the COMPUSTAR combo works is that you when you park the car, and remove the key the car continues to run.. thus meaning that the car is not in gear.. once you are outide the car and close the door, you hit the button on the key fob and the car will arm, lock the doors, and shut off the car.
As long as you do not go back into the car for anything the starter will work fine. if you do go back in then the starter will not let the car remote start.
It is a 5 speed saftey thing.. my last car did go jump forward cause it was not a compustar and i had to remember to take it out of gear,,, anyways long story there.
As Oldsskool said i am only wondering if anyone has had any problems with alarm starter combos on this car, as well as he ebrakes giving out..
