Crack in Engine Block
2006 SS 2.4L 39k miles
So I was on my way to work, and the red engine light came on, and my temp had skyrocketed to about 240F. I pulled over, lifted the hood and the coolant hose had exploded and instead of coolant leaking it was a thick yellowish sludge.
I check my coolant oil every 1k-2k miles and I had seen no issues when I checked it last.
Called the dealership, they towed it there, and took a look at it. They said there was a petroleum based contaminate in the system and that is what caused the problem. They had my car for 3 weeks. They replaced the entire cooling system, and all the hoses. They said they road tested it, and saw no issues. They were trying to say it was me who added the contaminate in the system, or whoever changed my oil. I have one of my local shops do it, and I watched him change my oil the last time, and he never added any oil or anything else into the coolant. I tried to explain this to them, had the shop call them, and they didn't want to hear it and said it wasn't covered under warranty.
They wanted $1800 for all the repairs. I reluctantly paid and said I would be fighting this with GM as the Service Manager was standing ground.
8 days after I have my car back, I check the oil, and coolant and the coolant is already a thick sludge.
I take my car back into the dealership. After 5 days, they tell me there is a crack in the block and they have to replace the engine. 15 more days go by, and I finally get my car back. The dealership was still giving me a hard time about getting my original $1800 back.
3 days later I received a check in the mail. Needless to say it was a very dissapointing chain of events.

The first time around, I didn't even get a rental, luckily or I am sure that would of been some extra money out of my pocket.
Yeah they did refund me for my full amount for the repair, and the check came from GM and not the dealership.
Now on the agenda is Rotors and Pads. Front pads are already <1/16".
All 4 rotors would need to be machined if I would keep the originals as the pads have worn a lip in every single one of them.
With that said, everything else has been perfect! Thanks for the welcome, I was hunting for pads and rotors and came across the site, wish I would of found it sooner!
