Do Not Trust Certain Dealerships On RECALL!
well here is my story on the powersteering recall that i experienced today. 3 weeks ago i went to my local chevy dealership that is 10 mins down the road from me and walk into service department and approached a lady. I said" hi when will i be able to bring my car in for the recall" she said" we wont start getting the parts in till march 29, wait till you recieve a letter in the mail and bring it in" so i said ok. Fast foward to this week, i get my letter in the mail tuesday saying call your local dealership to schedule a appointment for the recall, so i called the dealership down the road and spoke to a lady on the phone and i told her i got the letter and she said" go ahead and bring it in on friday at 11 and bring the letter with you" so today is friday and i arrive at the dealership at 11, i walk in and ask a random guy" im here for a appointment for the recall" he asks me whats my name and runs it in the computer and says to go talk to the guy across the hall from him. i walk to that guy and said" im here for the recall" he look at me once and turned back to his computer and said" i dont know who told you to come in but we dont have any motors yet, try again on april 27" i said what about the other chevy dealerships in houston, he said" nobody in houston has the motors yet, try again on april 27" he talk to me without even looking at me and playing on his computer like he didnt give a ****. i walk out and went to a dealership i never went to before that was 30 mins from me and as soon as i walk in there and ask if they had the motors, the guy at the counter said" yea i got 6 in the back, give me your keys and i will get you all fix up" i told him what happened at the other dealership and he shook his head and said what a bunch of jackass's. So for those of you who get told this which i have already read in the other forum where they said they didnt have none yet, dont trust them, go to another dealership.

They probably told you they didn't have and because they didn't have any. They don't know what they other dealers have unless they want the part. There are many dealers that don't have the parts. My dad is a parts manager and is having a hard time getting the parts, so they probably weren't lying when they said they have none.

I'm not arguing that the guy was an ass, unless they need the part and call around they dont know what anybody has. So unless they want to actually do the work they wont know what people have. They might not have had any, but i do agree the service was shitty.

Alot of dealers don't keep many parts stocked. When I took my car in today to have stuff worked on, the only part they had and installed was my shift knob, and that was because I ordered it last week when my stock one fell off. Everything else was eliminating rattles in my exhaust and dash. They had to order everything else I complained about (Brake cover latch, door handle, column cover...etc).
That being said, I hope that dealership had the new revision of motor and not the older one.

The old ones were made in Japan too. Please grab your paperwork and post up the part number; it would be very helpful.

core chg. 20930092-c
Performed recall and replaced power steering assist. motor v2226
theres a whole lot of numbers on the motor itself that isnt on the paperwork, says denso on the motor. i dont remember seeing that word on the old motor.

Excellent, thanks! The old motor was 20763801 by the way. I think we're pretty safe in assuming they gave you the new version and not leftover old ones.
GMPartsDirect recognizes both part numbers and calls each a "motor kit".
I wonder what's improved in the new version? Better brushes that don't get all carboned up I suppose?
