Door lock won't dis-engage

Hey Guys, I ran into an issue last night when I unlocked and opened my door at a red light. I closed the door as I was rolling away, and the door locked while I was closing it. Seems like nothing should have happened, but when I got home, I could unlock the door, but not open it.

I've unlocked the door with the key fob, the arm rest lock, pulling on the door pin, and with the key on the outside (after climbing out the passenger side door). Nothing worked.

Even worse, because the door didn't open, the car didn't recognize I was out, and didn't shut off the radio. I shut down the radio, and have since dis-connected the battery to try to reset everything. Still no luck.

Two options I'm considering is popping the lock with a slim jim (calling a tow truck) or pulling the inside of the door apart to diagnose and try to fix.

I've only owned the car since august so I'm still learning. (LOVE the car btw)

I've searched the site but could not find the same issue nor any how-to's on door maintenance. Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks

Sounds like the actual door lock mechanism froze shut. This is a common issue with some GM's. I had to grease the hell out of mine to keep it from doing it to me.

As far as RAP goes, it'll automatically turn the radio off after 10 minutes if you don't open the door first. So you don't need to disconnect the battery.

So I got the door open with some random up and down on the manual door pin while opening the outer door latch. (I opened the window and did it from the outside)

Tore the door panel down, and had a good laugh when I noticed the door latch could easily get stuck in the locked position. This used to happen to my mom`s cutlass and I had to fix it at the age of 12. Only I`d never seen it happen to the car when the door was closed. Only when it was open resulting in a door that couldn`t be closed.

Needless to say, I`m due for a new door latch mechanism (held on by the 3 torx screws in the door jam).

The random up and down worked well after reading it on the internet. Dunno if I can get the latch covered by warranty, but if so, I`ll post it up.

Attempt to grease the living daylights out of it. I recall a TSB about it and it basically reccommended using some grease.

Same damn thing happened to me. But my passenger side door refused to open. As for the driver door the latch was in the shut position so the door would not close. WD40 bout half a can worked

I have a similar issue. On top of that, sometimes my driver door will not latch shut when I go to close it. I was told the latch is binding and it would have to be replaced. The latch issue has been off and on for 2 years now and it recently started doing it again. Here is some damage resulting from the latch issue.......Look behind the door handle. Latch binding+50mph winds+Box truck at work.......

The lock issue just started the other day. Had to pull a Dukes of Hazard to get out of the car
