The first thing happened to me. I tried to close my drivers side door, and it just bounced back. I was like WTF? All it was was the door latch got stuck open, and I assume the same thing happened to yours, but it got stuck closed.

Without seeing it, I would say that where the clasp is that keeps the door shut (if the door is open, about halfway between the roof and bottom of the door sill), the little hook inside the door is stuck into the "closed postion like when the door shuts.
I know I didn't explain that the best way.

The handle controls the little "hook" and opens and closes it. That is why it banged those times when trying to close it. The cable may need to be replaced inside the door or it has come apart.

To remove the inner door panel they just take off all the clips and set it off to the side after its off. No real tricks to it, and every GM Tech. has gotten VERY good at doing it. Its literally the most basic thing you have to do most times.
If you slammed it enough you could have jarred loose the connections between the handle and the latch. Believe it or not its not a cable but a tiny steel pipe, almost like a solid brake line, and to fix that all they would do is slip it back into its holder.
And for the latch they'll either lube the **** out of it and make it work again or order you a new one.

Yea they will, if its bad enough, which I cant imagine it would be then they would just break it off.
I've noticed usually when body and interior components come in for warranty work they have one guy thats especially good in that field they give it to. Or send it to the body shop.

That was me that posted the thread about it last week.
The parts came in and I just had it done under warranty last night.
They did both doors just to be safe.
I was told it's part of the "anti-theft deterrant" system. When the door unlocks, the mechanism isn't fully disengaging and that's why the door bounces back open like there's no latch, or it will not open at all.
Mine did the same thing.
Do a search in this area, and you'll see how many people have had this happen.
My service writer got stuck in 2 2006 Cobalts the same day I brought it in to have it looked at, so he knew I wasn't making it up.
Over 50K and still covered under warranty... gotta love that.

i told my dealer about the squeaking, it only happens when its on the first setting, they replaced the whole fan motor and the squeakign is gone. make them fix your doors. mine did the whole shut and close **** and they wouldnt fix it til it got to the point where it wouldn't even budge. fix it before this happens cuz u know it will happen when ur running late for something u dont want to be late too
