e-break handle

I have a 2007 ss and my e-brake handle is driving me crazy. Basically it slides around and is very easy to pull off. It's just really annoying to go to pull up on the e-brake to disengage it and instead the handle starts sliding off. My sisters cobalt (not an ss) does not do this so I am thinking its an issue with my car and not all cars. I can't think of any way to stop this from happening so I am coming to you guys for help. All ideas are appreciated, thanks a bunch.

edit:
sorry I'm not stupid, I know it's brake, I was focusing so much on not screwing up I guess I screwed them all up, I can get a little anxious and ruin small things like that.

You broke the clip. It's not hard to do. I did it adding the armrest. I'm sure someone who replaced it with an after market one could sell it to you. I bought a new MOMO handle and Im getting a nice leather boot for it. The stock ebreak is disgusting IMO. lol

I just got the car so I didn't break it, I don't even see where the clip would be. I've read about the handbrake mod, but am not sure I like how it looks.

Do I need a whole new handbrake cover, or can I just get the clip and put it on? again I have no idea where it would even go.

If I remember correctly, there should be a clip on the bottom of it, where it goes into the center console. Its a piece of the handle itself. Once it's broke, its gone. I can go get mine and take a pic real quick.

I lied, the clip is half way up the handle. I took a pic. Gimme a min to upload it

Here it is. You can see the hole half way up, thats where the cheap POS clip is. The clip is next to it. The tiny little black piece. Yea, that keeps it on....
