engine swap kept the trans. Now wont stay in first

Hey guys please help me out. This guy helped me so much ill never forget how nice he was and how far he came but... we did an engine swap on my 2006 Chevrolet cobalt ss. We used the same tranny that went unto first just fine before.engine started up fine and nothing was wrong. I still have to bleed the clutch but it wont pop into first . All other gears are fine please help me. Will bleeding the clutch fix this problem

Check shifter cable linkage under center console and behind driver side wheel. Make sure they're all connected securely.

Try bleeding the clutch first, it can be hard to get the shifter into gear if it's stuck in a certain spot and the vehicle isn't moving, I doubt you changed anything relevant just by swapping the engine. You did bolt the cables back down properly right?
