Engine Trouble

To night the wife and I drove the Cobalt to the restaurant for dinner. The drive there was great, the car ran fine. After dinner we got in the car and it started up just fine as usual. So we head out, after being on the road for about a quarter of a mile we have to stop at a light. Everything seemed fine. The light turn green, I go to take off and the car stalls out. Start it back up, no problem, go to take off and it stalls. It did this three times. So, I start it up the fourth time and away we go. The car sputtering and jerking all the way home like it was misfiring. By the time we got home it sounded like a back fire. This is the first time I have had any problem like this with the car. I hope that it will fine in the morning after it set overnight. Has this happened to anyone else?

i have had the car stall then i fire it back up and it runs very rough. I dont want to say it is normal but it has not happened to me in a long time. did you perhaps use anything less thatn 91 octane? if so that can be the misfiring and sputtering. Put some 93 in there and resest the comp.

I have only used 93 octane. I have only filled up with BP or Exxon/Mobil. My wife thinks that I got bad gas since I have never purchased gas from this place before.

Got in the car this morning and it started right up. Sat there for a couple of minutes and off we went. No problems at all. I just hope the ride home is just as eventful. Go figure!

That EXACT thing happened to me. it is something with stalling out. I was trying to get out of a parking lot and stalled and it started crapping out on me. I had a hunch that just cutting the engine off and restarting would help. so 5 minutes into the fiasco i just pulled over. cut it off and back on and it was humming sense. I have no idea why this happens, good to know it wasnt just me!!!

My car takes forever to start after its stalled . It cranks 4 times longer than normal and seems to run rough for a minute or so after. I haven't had the issue of stalling 4 times in a row , but there is something about stalling the motor that the computer doesn't like .

When my LS did this....it was something in the ignition/pcm. Happened every couple of months. It was almost like the cylinders were being flooded then trying to fire kind of thing.

Sometimes I'd be stalled in the middle of rush hour traffic for 10 minutes trying to get it started. Thank god for tinted windows.
