if you are trying to find a hole, use a leak detector with dye or put nitrogen through the system and find the leak

You can get that from the auto parts store.

I just went through the same thing, except I just replaced mine myself(found one for $110) and then recharged the system.

Did you have someone recharge it or do it yourself. I was looking around and the cheapest place I seen was about 130 dollars (pep boys).

I could get a new condenser, but kinda wanted it done before saturday.

Ill check for the dyes, thanks!

I recharged it myself(not the right way unless you have a vacumn pump)

It is suppose to be put on a vacumn for a few minutes to make sure you get everything out of the hoses and the condensor, then it should be filled w/ freon to get that true charge.

I didnt waste my time trying to patch it, after I spent the money on dyes, freon and leak kits I could have just done the same thing.

Hmm...that sucks I dont have a vacuum pump.

I know around where the hole is...but not the exact spot. When I turned my AC on I could see where the freon was going out. That was a long time ago. it might of all leaked out by now...and the green oil

Yeah the green oil is how I spotted mine. But I did it w/o the vacuum pump and it is blowing ice cold. Autozone said our system took 16 ounce, so I put a 3oz of oil and then a 16oz can of freon through it, just use a pressure gauge as directed and you should be fine.

you can pick up a dye kit at an auto parts store for like 15 bucks. depending on where the hole is, will be a big issue.

i had a hole in one of the metal lines that ran under the dash, I got quoted 400 from the acura dealership to fix it plus 100 for a recharge.

I just had that hole welded up and had a friend with a vacume refil it.

cost me 40 after it was all said and done

I know around where its at. My H/E rubbed against it (thats how it got the hole). And you could see where some of the oil was at. And when i turned the ac on, I was trying to find the hole with needle nose pliers and ended up tabbing it and it started shooting freon out alot. I used the pliers to push the fins together and it stopped doing it as much, but still there. That was 2 months ago. So I know the general area...just not the exact area and dont think random welding is going to be useful. So got to find exact place I think. (its infront of the bottom grille)

So if I can get that done, just recharge...dont have a vacuum..or know anyone (except maybe a guy in orlando but thats quite a drive). i know pep boys wanted 139, dealership wanted 150. Dont know where else to check.

Oh, metal shop would weld it for 35 dollars.
