i sent gm a email today about the steering thump in my car and how the dealership replaced the intermediate shaft and it's still doing it again. Now the dealership says the thump in my steering is normal and can't do anything about it. Hopefully gm will do something about it.

I had the same problem you described. Just so happens my front rims were loose. It happens when you travel high speeds with alluminum rims, they work alot. Tighten them by hand.

it's def not my lug nuts. It usually happens at low speeds going over bumps or even better on gravel roads.

Did having the links replaced fix the problem?

Im telling you i never thought it could of been that. I was reproducing the noise rocking back and forth in reverse. Just check and see.

They better do something about it. I have same thing along with all of you. I don't care what they say, that is not normal. It almost feels loose and it's very annoying.
Can someone say recall?

i know it's not the problems, because i've taking my factory rims off to put aftermarket rims on and vise versa several times. I've had this clunk since day one when i bought this car. But that sounds really dangerous that ur lug nuts were loose, good things you found out.

Techs will allways want to fix big things that arent broken. More money for them.

Yeah, thats what happens when you drive it way over the speed limit for long periods of time.

Are you sure you didnt break an axle? It kinda sounds like it. Maybe your bearing in the transfer case is fucked. I dunno.

i don't think they will do a recall since it's not dangerous supposeldy. But this is really aggravating because it seems like a lot of cobalts have this problem and everything they do to replace it just doesn't work. I really wanted to lower my car but am worried the problem will get worse if i lower it.

Well I had the clunk well before lowering my car. I have Eibach sportlines and the problem has not gotten worst at all. It's just annoying.

I meant i know it's not the problem. Like i said i had this problems since day one when I bought this car. Theres on way it can be the rims, i always make sure there tight. I really have no idea what the problem could be.

Sweet, that gives me some peace in mind when I go to lower my car.. I would have lowered my car a long time ago if i didn't think the problem would get worse.

Your dealership won't help you? Call GM services and tell them that and they will flip on them. They should keep your car and if they can't figure it out ask them for a rental. You can allways try another dealership.

Honestly I highly doubt it. They couldn't even put badges in our stage kits nevermind recalling all of our vehicles for suspension work. GARBAGE!

i work in a chevy dealer ship and were finding out that this noise is not comming from the intermediateshaft its in the steering column. Chevrolet is tellin the techs to replace the shaft and then when that dosn't fix it to replace the column. We haven't had a shaft fix the noise yet but the column has.
