Gas mileage and check engine code ???

Hey all was wantin some help i have an 06 SS/SC with intake and exhaust. The other day while racing a Mustang my check engine light poped on after i finished dusting the stang i pulled into an autozone to have them run the code it came back as a large evap leak and scince it threw the code my gas mileage has gone from 27mpg to 23.1mpg can some one tell me whats up cause it runs fine if not better than before???

Here is what it sounds like to me. The Evap Canister, is a charcol canister, designed to absorb fuel vapors out of the fuel tank. If it's leaking, essescnally it sounds ilke you have a fuel leak. This is consistant with your decrease in gas milage. Hopefully its just the evap canister itself and you can swap that out. I have never done that before though.

Check your gap cap first. If it had anything to do with the charcoal canister, a MIL would be associated with that.

So gas cap is good to make sure i picked up a new one from the dealership to make sure
