i got it flashed last week, still does it, no as much as it used to, maybe as i rack the km, it gets better but i dunno anymore, they told me this wasnt a fix and it probably wont work, but i dont understand how so many people have this problem and they dont know how to fix it, i also notice it does it mostly when im in first gear at say a drivethrough for a coffee and when i put it in neutral thats where it starts and soemtimes when i reverse, i will be makin more phone calls to head office to see what they say.

Hate jumping in here since I will be driving my New Cobalt SS on thursday next week for the first time, but am curious about something. So far the majority of you are indicating a problem since the cold weather hit. Does this problem occur when running your heaters or defrost or does it matter if these units are on or off? Second....does the 2.0L come with and IAC (Idle Air Control unit)? This has caused me plenty of problems in the past with other Chevy's in cold weather. Just some thoughts.

my 06 SS/SC has the same idle problem too , its been to the shop 3 times and they say i also have the latest software updates . There answer is , we cant duplicate the complaint and TAC ( Tech assistant center) says car is operating as designed since it has never actually died . I call BS GM needs to fix it ..

GM Should Give us all Free Upgrades to Stage 2

Or we could alway file a class action lawsuit , Maybe then they would fix the damn problem along with the CEL comming on with the CAI .

I had the exact same problem, but it's not just plauging the SS/SC. My 05 2.2L base 5 speed did it, exactly how distillion describes it. When like creeping in first and put it in neutral, rpms drop and then rev up to 1500-2000, and it'll do that cycle 3 or 4 times. Dealer said I have latest software and they can't duplicate it. That was at about 4500 miles. I'm now almost at 9500 miles and the idle issue seems to have gone away. Weird

I get that too... I have 14.2k miles and it seems it happens if your about to stall the car and drop the clutch to the floor. The tach will shoot up to about 1300rpms then dip to about 500 and repeat 3 times...

It only happens to me when I am not paying attention and let the clutch up to quick from a stop or something like that.

Its very easy to replicate. I think its normal and not something to worry about. It appears like the car is checking itself.

Why you guys freaking out? They all idle like that. (from what I heard). Mine goes down to 700, 1000, 700, 1000, then ecu idles good. I think its normal for a forced induction car. I wouldnt worry about it unless it ever stals... then bring it to the dealer. Its hard to tell if you car IS actually having idling issues. Maybe it feels the need to run lean at idle... not sure.

hmm never thought of it like that i guess, ive never had a blown car and im constantly learning about the motor under the hood, hey if its normal than thats cool, i mean it stops by itself after a while or if u tap the gas it gone right away I but i dunno im not too concerned cuz its not stallin, it runs very well ive just found it wierd cuz like i said ive never had a blown car and ive all this is new to me.

Mine does the same thing. I've had it on the dyno and it did it too while the tech was watching and he didn't seem concerned when I pointed it out. The air/fuel ratio was great so I haven't worried. The idle jumps on the stock gauge, but the aeroforce one is about a 200 rpm range at max.
Now my buddies did it real bad, it sounded like it wanted to stall then surged, he had boost issues. Too much boost to be exact. They fixed it and de-tuned his car to ensure it only runs 12.5 psi. The only mod he had was a K&N CAI. He has since added a GMPP cat-back and hasn't had problems.

Okay, I realize that this thread is older than dirt, but I just took delivery of an '06 SS/SC and it idles very poorly on occasion. It will start up fine, then drop revs below 1k. Then the revs bounce between 950 and 1500. What gives? Has this problem been fixed for any of you that have been having the same problems? Thanks for any info!

The other thing my dealer told me is that there is no TSB or repair for the passenger door handle issue, despite the fact I gave him the TSB number posted in another thread. His exact words were that "you can't trust most of these kids on those forums, they're mostly full of ****". I've yet to have met anyone at the Bill Heard Chevy around here with a clue.
Bill Heard is full of ****. All there is to it. They were trying to **** me over back when I was getting a Tahoe Z71.

That will be fixed by a new reflash. The newer updated calibrations address the cold start and idle surge issues. Or get a stage kit.
