I did mine yesterday, I took my time but 2hr's to get it done. most of you shops will charge anywhere from 4- 8hrs at $90 to $95 an hour if I were to do it It would not be for anything less then $500 not counting the parts

I've heard of tensioners having issues, but if your timing chain went you wouldn't be driving. And ideally it shouldn't go at all, but if you're well into 6 figures on milage and want to keep driving, it's a good idea to change it. It's more of a proactive thing...if you're replacing your chain because it broke, you likely have bigger things to worry about.

timing chains stretch beyond spec starting around 140K miles on ecotec motors, it happens faster on engines that see fast revving and so forth.
