if that relay is not bad now, it's going to be soon. You're supposed to put those somewhere that they won't get wet, like up in the frame rail. Replace that relay harness and it will probably be fine

Tommy's right. Water inside, corrosion outside. They need to be protected. And probably cleaned every now and then. Guess I know what I'm doing Saturday.

I just had the exact same issue, but don't have HID's. When you unlock the car the brights come on till you get in. When you start the car the low beams automatically come on, DRL if daylight or low beams at night. I checked the relay, fuses, power at the harnesses, all good. Checked the bulbs, both low beam bulbs burned out at the same time. Coincidentally it was the the day I got the car back from the dealer after my ignition switch got stuck on while the car was running. Switch replaced under warranty, bulbs burned out just hours after I got the car back, but thats another story. Check for power at the harness to the lights, swap high beam bulbs to low beams and see if they light up. Replace if necessary.

Trying to remember if the relays are left/right or high/low for the bi-xenons.

Am I the only one that found these headlights the hardest ever to reinstall? Putting my new bezels in nearly made me go nuts.

Why do you have to take the headlights out to unplug the relays and plug new ones in? To relocate them to a cleaner place maybe, huh?

Relays definitely need to be replaced. Start there. They need to be put somewhere they aren't going to get wet in the future.

Not even a little. I can probably remove and replace cobalt headlights in less than 30 seconds. Have you ever had a car you had to completely remove the front bumper? Go from a 5 min headlight bulb change, to 45 min

can still be the relay is bad. The one time I blew a relay due to water, whenever I turned on my headlights, my high beams were stuck on. New relay fixed it.

A lot of money spent if it's a 5 dollar relay.

On the other hand, a lot of time lost if the plug is corroded to the point where it won't accept a new relay.

Yea kinda a double edge sword...relay harnesses are a pain in the ass. With my last on I put it inside a balloon and have the wires faced down so nothing can get to it...

^good idea. i just don't have the money for a whole new harness right now, kinda sad but true

the relays pop out easy, and i can see the connections are also kinda shitty and green. i'm gonna use electrical parts cleaner and fix them up a bit for the new ones

whats the new trs harness anyway? i was having troubles finding the current one im using on their site

Yea the current one you are using is old. prolly about 1.5 years ago that one stop being made. The one that I have is this one...

Bi-xenon: 'MotoControl 9004/9007/HB5 - Relay Harnesses from The Retrofit Source Inc

this is their new montocontrol harness. It is pretty sturdy and I guess the wires they use are better grade? idk..just something new to sell IMO haha
