As far as I can figure, the studs should be covered under your factory warranty. Those things are typically pretty darn hard to break off so maybe it was a manufacturing defect. I'd definately call the dealership and have it checked out immediately. That goes without saying, don't drive it unless absolutely necessary, could make things worse.

Best of luck to ya'.

I doubt warranty will cover it, just depends on how cool your dealership is. Mine probably would but then again im friends with the service advisor. You will probably have to pay for it yourself.

I had one snapped off on my last car and I replaced it myself. I just hammered the old one out and put a new one in. $1.00 at Autozone. Some cars you can do this on. Not sure about ours. Usually turn the hub around to a point where you have enough room in the back to to get old one out and new one in.

if the dealer put the rims on it bring it back as is but if they didnt throw the regular ones on and they have to cover it. I had a CTS with 18s on it installed from the dealer. i broke about 7 stems becuase the rims were not the right size and the dealer had to fix everyone for free.

Well once againi i broke my damn lug stud today. I was just taking off the stock cobalt wheels to put my rims back on and when i was losening one bolt the thing just snaped. This is the 3th time i have broken lug stud. I dont get why they are breaking? i torque them to the right specs and all but i just have **** luck i guess. Im also keeping my rims to bring into the dealer friday with them on the car. Usually i put the stock ones back on but this time i figured to leave them on. and if they want proof i do have the nut w/ the broken stud in it to show that i was taking it off. But hopefully the dealership wont give me any problems.. or do u think they will since its ont OEM ?

anyway, they shouldnt care. i have heard of this happening to many people, just not so many times to the same person. Are you sure you aren't torqueing them too much?

when I got my new rims rebalanced they must have over torqued a couple of the lugs. When I took my rims off to put on my springs two of them snapped off on different wheels. I had my car in for warranty work later that week and they replaced them without asking. I told them what had happened because he mentioned it when I came to pick my car up, I said I would fix it myself and he said dont worry we took care of it for you. I still wonder if he would have charged me if I would have told him to go ahead and fix them for me. I also wonder if he voided any warranty I would have had on my rotors because over torqueing can warp them. Personally I use a torqure wrench just to avoid guessing games.

got back from the dealer and the scumbag said my warranty wouldnt cover it because i was changing wheels. and theirs no way i was going to pay them 72/ hour and 4.30 for the lug stud when i could just do it myself or go to another chevy dealership. im kinda mad about this actully. He was a complete idiot.

But the good thing is i finally got my door panel replaced so the cloth is around the door handle bezel. Even though that was back in october when i told them about it. god i hate my service guys . atleast the sales people are cool.

You mentioned you are using correct torque, what are you torquing them to?
Are you using a beam or a "click type" torque wrench? or "Torque Sticks" with an impact gun??

Sounds like they were overtorqued, probably put on with an air impact wrench.
