Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

So last night I go to pick up my girl in 2009 SS/TC and I turned into a driveway to turn around with a dip. The front end(underneath) hit kinda hard, and the car stalled. I was like dammit I scraped the front bumper I guessed at first. So i tried to start it up and it would start and stall, so I accerated and wound it up so it wouldnt stall and the car moved and I heard like the bumper dragging. I got out and saw that this metal pieceabout two feet long and six inch wide had come off, looks like right under the radiatior. I believe they say the intercooler is also under there. So i took the piece off and I completely lost turbo and the check engine light came on!!!! It finally stayed running but no power at all it was like drining an LT or something. How screwed am I, I dropped off to the dealership and they said they may get to it TOMORROW!!!

I do believe the first thing to make that thunk sound is the i/c. That would definitely screw with the car.

My guess is you cracked the clips that hold the intercooler in place and you now have slim to no air flow running to you motor (and anything you do will be unfiltered. If I remember correctly the clips are part of the unit itself so if they need to be replaced, you'll be paying for another intercooler unit. Just a guess though, the dimensions you provided sound about right.

Your IC became disconnected probably. These same symptoms happened to me when I blew my stock IC... also due to scraping the front.

Pic for reference:

There are two clips that hold the IC on. It hangs there attached to the clips with four bolts.

This is very true...lol

I went to the dealership and they were gunna charge me upwards of 800 for parts and labor. I really didn't have the money for it so I fix it myself. I went to autozone and got some like, puddy appoxy **** called, "Liquid Metal" or soemthing like that. Cost me like $5. I layd down underneith my car, followed the direction on the puddy and just filled the hole. It takes 24 hours to completely cure. I let it sit and a day later I was back to pushing 15psi. I was so happy. The CEL stayed on for a day or 2 more while I guess the car was relearning its situation, lol. Then it went away. As good as new for $5

I'll take pics after work and show you what it look like after work. I'll be home around 5ish EST

That's what I did!

Insurance was paying for a replacement stock IC and I was like heck no I'm not putting another plastic-capped one on there (that's where mine failed). They were on national backorder anyway. I took the money for the stock IC and put it towards getting my Hahn IC. Much more substantial and rugged.

Here's what happend...

This is what I did to fix it...not the prettiest thing but you can always take the intercooler of and make it look nicer. I didn't have the tools, plus you can't see it...

well, there was a golf ball sized hole in the plastic part of the intercooler. What I did was I made up some of puddy and made kinda like a puddy gromit around the hole and let that set up for an hour. Then I kneed up some more and built up little by little until the hole was covered. Then just let it cure for a day. Good as new...

Yea, my bad. I just completely did away with it. Its sitting in my trunk right now as we speak, lol. All it is, is like a guard or something I believe. It has one bolt that goes through (up into) the intercooler and the otherside just kinda slides into a bracket. The bolt pulled through and took a chunk of plastic with it.

That piece on the bottom is an evaporator that takes any condensation (water) out of the intercooler and traps it.

Well I haven't taken mine to the dealer yet but I am pretty sure that they are not going to warranty it. The evaporator is still intact and is not leaking any boost but it seem as if the clip on the driver side broke off. I didn't hit anything and there are no scratches on my front bumper. However where the piece is hanging down there are a couple of scratches. This really sucks because I take REALLY good care of my car and don't miss treat it and they are probably going to tell me to **** off or pay. I don't know if something popped up and hit it or what. Anyone have any advice other than buy and aftermarket intercooler?
