HELP! condensation??
ive been seeing some yellow **** around my oil cap, and figured it was just a little condensation. i was aorried so i pulled off the valve cover and had some good news and bad news.
the good news? its not all over everything. my cams and valves are all clean, and everything looks normal
the bad news? my valve cover had it all over the oil cap area. it was also in the valve cover breather hose going to my intake.
i cleaned it all up, should i be worried? is it something other than condensation?

I was curious cause that looks so gross, so did a little research:
The only reason the mayonnaise-like deposits exist is because of cold-weather condensation inside the cold parts of the engine. The oil fill tube is a big, cool insulator.
The water is trapped in the mayo and does no damage. When the weather warms up, the water will be driven out and removed via PCV.

what ash quoted.
one of the by products of combustion is water. minuscule amounts of which get pushed by the rings and into the crank case and then mixed with the oil. when the engine cools with the outside temperature what it is now during the winter. it will condense out of the oil and leave that milky, "mayo" type gunk on the outer parts of the engine.

Not to mention the multiple messages about brake booster hoses and tb connectors that are pretty much self explanatory. Not trying to be a dick, but don't bump my threads just to talk ****
