Help with cousins car.
My cousin doesnt own A cobalt but he has a Legacy GT and hopefully someone on here may know whats going on. My cousin owns a 2007 Legacy GT 5MT. He has the spt intake, Perrin header and up pipe, Perrin cat back exhaust, perrin top mount intercooler, and the cobb a/p. We tuned the car with the stage 2 93 octane tune. The car was running like this for about 6-7 months now with no problems.
This is the problem, about a month ago the car started to choke under acceleration. It started like this for a couple weeks without throwing any codes. We thought it was the cobb a/p so we uninstalled it and put the stock map back on and hoped that it would go away, but it was still there. Now for about a week the car is throwin the cel, and the cruise light will blink and the car wont let u shift into sport sharp mode. The code i think was P0031, and said something about a Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1. We cleared the code and the car will start choking again. When the lights come on it runs better.
Does anyone know what this possibly could be and how we can fix it?

I would be looking at the O2 sensor, bank 1 is before the cat I would guess and thats why I dont think its the cat.
Also you say it runs better when the light comes on because the car is then running in a closed loop so that the O2 sensor isnt used to help monitor the running of the engine.
You drive it like this to long and you will need a cat ,these closed loop settings are usally rich to compensate for any condition.
