i got that number from two different places.... my friend works at a chevy dealership and he could get me the actual cat for 583... but u have to buy other **** too apparently... But I could care less now that GM is covering it. I'm gonna ask to see the old one so I can make sure they replaced it.

The last time I was at a dealership I did a burnout in their indoor service area. True story.

Can't do that everywhere. In my county if you have a code disabled it's automatic fail.

Got damn it... I go to get in the car this evening and the check engine light, that's been on for damn near 8-9 months, miraculously turns off A DAY BEFORE IT GOES INTO THE SHOP. Do u think they'll still replace the cat if the light is still off?

Did you read what i posted. lol. They can tell if a code has been disabled. If it picks up a disabled code, it's an automatic fail in my county. Not all counties are as strict. A GM stage 3 ecm can't be used where i live either in stock form because the engine light doesn't turn on if you have a code.

x2

I wasn't aware emissions testing had access to ECU data, I'm pretty sure they just have OBD2 access which would not give the testing facility the ability to read the ECU to see if it the cars capable of producing such a code; All they do is check to see if the code exists.

That being said, if they get under the car or put a mirror under and see there's no rear O2 sensor or cat then you'll fail.
