help noob with brakes
hey guys just did my front brakes, replaced discs and pads like normal. Did everything the way ive done brakes before.
Put everything back together went for a drive, pedal goes to the floor, brake fluid is right at the top and nothing is leaking and I didnt disconnect anything to need the brakes to be bled. So what did I do wrong?
edit: car stops but i wouldnt trust it in traffic, the pedal touches the floor.

No i didnt. And there is the problem.
There was "oil" all over the garage floor, right on the axle boot. I was thinking some how when i jacked the car up or something crazy the axle boot ripped but thought there was no way possible that it could happen. Plus it wasnt grease it was oily substance.
Then i realized that brake res in directly above that, so it must have overflowed and backed up. Does that sound right?

I believe there is an over flow hole on the reservoir so that may be your issue. I can't remember though if that is an open hole or whether it has a valve or something on the inside. I'd definitely try filling the reservoir and bleeding the brakes before anything else. But for future reference on any vehicle, take the cap off first and that way you don't build up extra pressure in the master when you compress the caliper.
